Window Tint Laws

Though window tint is a need, many of us get it done even without knowing the law and rules of the land. There may be a lot of undesired activities that may take place in the barb of window tint; therefore, law is important for sure. However, rules and law for each land is different. So check the rules of the place you live in before investing in any kind of automotive window tint.

Most state laws on automotive window tint are concerned with light transmittance and luminous reflectance – this simply signifies the amount of visibility allowed by the glass. The visibility is usually set at about seventy five percent. The light transmittance is different for front windshield and very different for side and rear windows.

You are definitely violating the law in any land if you have opaque or one way visibility. The laws are easily available online or with the traffic officers. Know them well before getting one done.

Window Tint Laws

The listing below is organized by state. Each state has it’s own VLT (visible light transmission) tinting regulation so before you buy we recommend that you consult your local state authority. Only buy window tint that meets with your local VLT regulations; your current state law is your final authority. This information was provided by the International Window Film Association IWFA).
